Dual Citizenship
As a safeguard against the devastating effects of children, youth and family separation due to detention or deportation, FLAP runs the Dual Citizenship program, operating under the strategic goal to keep families together.
Holding dual citizenship -being a citizen of two countries at the same time- offers significant practical, financial, and personal advantages. Such as keeping families together, global mobility and travel, expanded Job opportunities and cross-border financial flexibility.
Because navigating foreign legal bureaucracies is difficult for low-wage workers, FLAP acts as a direct intermediary. With the main goal to keep families together, FLAP officially partners with 6 Consulates -Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Salvador and Peru- facilitating dual citizenship for low-wage children, youth and their families.
Through this program, FLAP eliminates the financial and administrative hurdles that typically prevent low-wage, marginalized low-wage workers from securing these vital dual-nation protections.
