FLAP's Work
Leadership and Professional Development
At FLAP, the primary goal is to witness the growth of staff and the community FLAP serves into accomplished leaders.
FLAP is fully dedicated to supporting staff and the low-wage community in acquiring skills that will enhance their personal growth and benefit FLAP as an organization, ultimately allowing the better service of the low-wage community.
All FLAP employees are encouraged to partake in networking for the organization, attend events, workshops, professional coaching, virtual and/or in-person meetings, site visits, fundraising events, conferences, panels, forums, individual and/or group training sessions, including the Migrant Law Training, and Train the Trainer, among others. These opportunities, free of cost for FLAP, align with the organization’s commitment to ongoing learning and development.
The Bilingual Chief Executive Officer and the Development and Communications Department actively seeks out such opportunities and encourage staff to attend.
FLAP leadership is unwavering in its dedication to nurturing an environment of inclusivity and collaboration. An open-door policy is embraced, encouraging all FLAP staff to engage with leadership openly, without hesitation, empowering them to become leaders and to see the organization’s leadership as a team instead of "bosses". The goal is to empower every member of the FLAP team, allowing them to perceive leadership as a collective effort, while maintaining accountability within FLAP’s hierarchical structure.
Together, FLAP operates as a unified team, where every voice is valued, and each individual holds the potential to emerge as a leader within the organization. The commitment is to support, nurture, and inspire leadership potential in each FLAP staff member, promoting a culture of shared responsibility and shared success.
FLAP invests in Staff’s professional development providing assistance and support to employees to increase the effectiveness of their performance in their present positions, as well as to encourage employees to obtain skills, knowledge, and abilities, which may improve their opportunities for advancement within the organization.
