Adriana Hoyos

Adriana Hoyos holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Communications from the Pontifical Bolivarian University in her hometown of Medellin, Colombia, along with a Specialization in Marketing Management. Early in her career, she developed strong leadership and community engagement experience through AIESEC, a global nonprofit organization focused on youth development. She later served as a Communications Coordinator at the Mayor’s Office in Bello in Colombia, supporting health campaigns and educational initiatives for vulnerable communities.

Adriana also worked as Head of Communications at “ACTUAR Famiempresas”, where she coordinated educational and commercial events that contributed to the creation of 250 microenterprises in low-resource areas of Medellin and was one of the leads of “The Family Entrepreneur of the Year” award ceremony alongside the Colombian President at the time. She later served as Director of Communications for various shopping centers in Medellín, organizing recreational, cultural, and educational events that strengthened community engagement.

In 2023, Adriana joined the Farmworker and Landscaper Advocacy Project-FLAP, as a Spanish Speaker Community Navigator, where her leadership and commitment to community service quickly led to her joining FLAP as staff. She began as a Bilingual Outreach and Intake Assistant later that year, quickly leading to her promotion as Bilingual Community Outreach Leader at the end of the year. Adriana transitioned into multiple positions focused on community outreach and education, including Bilingual Community Outreach and Education Coordinator, Bilingual Community Outreach and Education Specialist, Bilingual Outreach Supervisor, and Bilingual Senior Outreach Supervisor in 2024. Adriana was promoted to Bilingual Senior Outreach Advocate in 2026, conducting extensive community outreach and worker education on labor rights and connecting low-wage communities to available legal services, building and maintaining strong community support networks and partnerships with organizations and institutions, and identifying potential legal cases through direct engagement with community members and partner organizations. She is now the Bilingual Senior Economic Mobility and Outreach Advocate at FLAP, empowering and leading low-wage workers to economic mobility.  

Now calling Evanston home, she is dedicated to strengthening community networks and helping low-wage individuals to access resources and opportunities. Adriana has continued developing her leadership through several programs, including the Leadership Evanston LE XXXII 2023-2024, Mujeres Latinas en Accion’s Liderazgo de Latinas (Latina Leadership) in April 2024, Northwestern University – Kellogg School Center for Nonprofit Management’s Lake Count Nonprofit Leadership program in May 2025, Hispanic Federation’s Por Nosotros Mental Wellness Initiative in 2025. She is also part of Liderazgo Latinos in Evanston, a coalition of organizations that come together to identify what resources are needed and what can be done to improve the Latine community. Over the course of work, Adriana has also delivered more than 1,000 Know Your Rights presentations, distributed more than 13,000 educational materials, made more than 1,000 referrals, and supported with several dual citizenship process.
